Summer in Downtown Phoenix

We spent the last couple of days enjoying downtown Phoenix. If you are headed there anytime soon, here are my recommendations for food and fun. We stayed at the Downtown Westin hotel. It was amazing!

They had a great summer AAA rate. The rooms are beautiful and because it's not technically a resort, the pool area was almost empty.

The pool is rather small but since we had it to ourselves, it wasn't an issue.

We used points from our Starwood American Express credit card sign-up to upgrade and get lounge access. This meant free breakfast, free lounge access and free evening reception along with complimentary wifi. The service was excellent.

We chose to go without a car and make use of the Phoenix light rail system. It stopped right in front of the hotel so it was easy to get around. The area around our hotel was nice however, further out on the light rail it was a little run down and there were more homeless people. The trip from the airport to the hotel was quick and easy.

Here's what we did during our stay.

  1. Nice! It's pretty hot out there but I went there early in the summer to coach a volleyball tournament. We stayed at the remodeled Sheraton, the hotel was awesome and surprisingly inexpensive.

Found myself taking a lot of cab rides though b/c I didn't want to walk in the heat haha
